Join GearBox Events September 11-13 for another incredible weekend of spirited driving on twisting country roads. This time we’ll be driving to and experiencing Hagerty’s “Road of the Year,” Pennsylvania Route 144, located in the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds.

Spanning 78 miles, Route 144 offers challenging turns, exciting elevation changes, and incredible scenery. The road ascends via switchbacks lined with northern hardwoods and wild rhododendrons, hugging sheer rock walls, and tracing the banks of the West Branch Susquehanna River. All around us we’ll find the Allegheny National Forest, an untouched wilderness larger than the state of Connecticut with a few small towns full of history. The drive is the point of this weekend excursion, so please bring a car that loves challenging pavement!

We’ll be leaving Harwood Motors on Friday morning, September 11, for a 235-mile drive through rural Ohio and Pennsylvania side roads, with our destination being Coudersport, PA, right at the northern end of Route 144. We’ll stop for lunch along the way, and we have a block of hotel rooms reserved at the Westgate Inn in Coudersport for Friday night. We’ll get up early Saturday morning, enjoy a continental breakfast at the hotel, then jump on Route 144 to start our trip down Hagerty’s Road of the Year. We will make plenty of stops for photos, have lunch at a local eatery, and end up in Clearfield, PA for refueling, dinner, and to check in to our Saturday night hotel. Sunday morning we’ll load up and head home, either by Interstate 80 or join us on the scenic route through the forest with a lunch stop along the way, your choice.

And yes, as with all GearBox Events drives, there will be ice cream at some point during the trip!

This is a pay-as-you-go event, with budget-friendly lunch and dinner stops scheduled all weekend. Gas is expensive, lunch doesn’t need to be!

Event fee is $35 per vehicle which includes 2 participants. Extra Passengers are $10 and all ages are welcome. We will drive rain-or-shine !
